Maisie McKenzie, a member of the DATA-CAN patient and public involvement and engagement group, has been asked by Dame Fiona Caldicott to join the National Data Guardian’s panel of advisors.
As the National Data Guardian, Dame Fiona Caldicott advises and challenges the health and care system to help ensure that citizens’ confidential information is safeguarded securely and used properly in the English health and social care system. She recently decided to strengthen her panel of advisors by recruiting a patient and public voice representative. This is something that use MY data has advocated for.
Following a competitive recruitment process, Maisie McKenzie was appointed as the first patient and public representative on the National Data Guardian panel. Maisie said, “This is an exciting opportunity for me to join the National Data Guardian panel as a patient and public voice. I look forward to bringing my experience as a carer and mental health first aider, as well as in the NHS and third sector, to this important role.”
